Divine neutrality?

December 18th, 2007

The predication of this blog is that nothing happens by divine intervention. The key belief underlying science is that there is no divine intervention. i.e. no phenomenon is caused by divine intervention.

That this is the conviction of scientists is evidenced by this fact: No scientific journal, of any repute in the scientific community, would publish an explanation for a phenomenon that relied on divine intervention.

No divine intervention is divine neutrality. We have faith that no capricious intervention from a higher power ever occurs in the physical world. That is why we can trust measurements of nature to tell us about the laws of nature. Divine neutrality is the foundational faith on which scientific exploration rests.
